Job Description
We are seeking an entry-level civil engineer to join our Civil Infrastructure Design Team. Our projects are diverse and often multi-disciplinary, spanning roadway, utility, stormwater, and broader infrastructure design. Work ranges from smaller-scale intersection or drainage improvements to large, multi-million-dollar upgrades of roadway networks, including local, collector, and arterial systems.
A significant portion of this role involves CDOT local agency projects, multi-use trail systems, and municipal capital improvement projects across the Colorado Front Range. This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to develop skills across the full lifecycle of capital improvement projects—from assessment and design to permitting, implementation, and construction.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for learning, a strong interest in transportation engineering, and a collaborative mindset.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, design, and production of engineering documents for diverse projects, including roadway work, pedestrian underpasses, sidewalks, stormwater management systems, parking lots, and parks/trail design.
- Contribute to studies, master plans, design reports, cost estimates, permitting efforts, and computer modeling.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications to guide construction processes.
- Perform engineering calculations, data analysis, and field observations to support project objectives.
- Develop an understanding of construction practices to ensure plans and specifications align with real-world application.
- Collaborate in client meetings alongside senior engineers and project teams.
- Work toward your Professional Engineer (PE) license with mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Engineer-In-Training (EI) certification or ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
- 0–4 years of full-time experience in civil engineering.
- Interest in or experience with transportation-related work, CDOT projects, and related agencies.
- Basic understanding of or willingness to learn tools like AutoCAD, GIS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM.
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities and a willingness to seek guidance and ask questions.
