Position Overview:
We’re seeking a Water Resource/Civil Engineer or Engineer-in-Training to join our team. This role involves a variety of projects, including stream assessment, restoration, and stabilization, as well as stormwater management, parks, and trails. The selected candidate will assist with assessment, analysis, design, permitting, implementation, and construction oversight of these projects. We’re looking for someone passionate about streams, rivers, natural resources, and watersheds, with an eagerness to grow and contribute to meaningful work.
Key Responsibilities:
– Apply science and engineering principles to design and improve stream restoration, stabilization, and enhancement projects in degraded riverine, riparian, and urban environments.
– Conduct watershed studies, analyze basin characteristics, and evaluate precipitation and runoff volumes.
– Design storm sewers, culverts, detention systems, and water quality systems.
– Perform floodplain studies and create FEMA flood mapping products.
– Engage in stormwater management, erosion control, and master planning efforts.
– Prepare construction plans, specifications, and oversee construction management.
– Collaborate with surveyors, landscape architects, planners, and ecologists to develop high-quality solutions.
– Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce innovative construction drawings.
– Develop outreach materials, attend meetings, and present technical information to clients.
– Assist with fieldwork and provide construction services for stream, park, and trail projects.
Required Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on water resources or environmental studies.
– EI designation or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
– 1-4 years of experience in water resource and civil engineering.
– Interest in stream restoration, parks, trails, and open spaces.
– Strong communication and teamwork skills.
– Willingness to ask questions, seek guidance, and solve problems collaboratively.
– Ability to work in a hybrid environment, including in-office presence as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, GIS, or other hydraulic modeling tools.
– Training or field experience with construction observation.
